Passive Komplacency Active Konsumption

This installation and multimedia interventionist project was developed for the mentorship course with artist and filmmaker Alfredo Jaar in Spring 2012. Passive Komplacency, Active Konsumption calls attention to a contemporary crisis of content and our own complacency within that. Using reality tv stars as muse, this project attempts to overload the viewer with content – activating and charging the field of passive consumption, forcing into recognition and out of complacency, regarding the content of our television and media.

There are four main strategies:

Visual overload of images of hyper-reality.

Audio overload of sounds of hyper-reality.

Extended and warped visuals of hyper-reality.
